Kevin has been a licensed attorney in Texas since 1997 and a licensed CPA in Texas since 2002. His primary areas of legal practice include corporate law, partnerships, LLC’s, general business agreements and operations, tax planning and IRS representation. In addition, he provides general business and accounting advice as well as entrance and exit strategies for businesses.
Kevin’s early legal experience includes employment with two San Antonio law firms, Leighton & Leighton, P.C. and Granstaff, Gaedke, & Edgemon, P.C., where he mainly focused on tax law, business law, corporations, limited partnerships and estate planning. From 2002 to 2012, he served as owner/partner, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and General Counsel of a holding company that owned and operated three Professional Employment Organizations (PEO), a real estate company and an insurance agency.
Collectively, these companies averaged total annual revenues of approximately $100 million, producing gross margins from $6 million to $7 million per year. As CFO, Kevin was responsible for producing audited financial statements across the multiple companies. He handled all legal matters ranging from in-house employment contracts to business agreements and leases to full support of outside counsel in matters of litigation.
In 2013, a start-up company hired Kevin to help build their business from the ground up and provide full-scale accounting and legal compliance services and secure all licensing. By 2016, with Kevin on board, the company grew to achieve a gross margin of $1.48 million on $72 million in total sales.
Kevin graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1997. He graduated Cum Laude with a BBA from Southwest Texas State University in 1992 and passed the CPA exam in 1994. He was born in New York but grew up in Austin, Texas.
Kevin is a member of the Better Business Bureau, State Bar of Texas and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the Finance Committee and Board of Directors for Oak Hills County Club in San Antonio, Texas.
